Heath Bunting
Well, Heath Bunting was an interesting character, it's not very often you meet an artist who was once homeless and has also been classified as a terrorist.
Heaths practice often revolves around political art and his process and actions are just as important as the physical piece he would present.
For a short time Heath was actually homeless which was when he began working with bits of broken glass, which lead him to being took on as an apprentice making stained glass. Later he went back to doing street art and used these new skills to his liking. Making stained glass graffiti out of windows in abandoned homes, which did result in a running in with the police, causing the end to this project.
Later Heath started using more internet based work. Such as his chalk project where he and another artist made a website link that would cause a viewer to go to a survey they made. They wrote this website link all of the city in chalk, people actually did follow up on this link and answered the survey. I find this project quite interesting as he tried to get others involved in the project by simply writing a chalk website link, having no idea what this website could have been, viewers did follow the link and answer the survey, almost testing public's curiosity. This is something I find interesting but I don't think id use this same technique in my own work.
One of Bunting's biggest projects is probably his border crossing project, looking at activist's who had there right to travel taken. So for about a year Heath was illegally crossing borders, especially focusing on locked borders. Over these months Heath had jumped trains such as the Eurostar into France and when he wasn't jumping on trains to cross borders, he was simply walking around borders, as he found many of the security fences to stop people crossing borders just simply ended at some point "there's always a way out or in". The turning point in this project was when Heath tried to jump this particular train and found out that many people have died trying to do it, causing the end to his illegal journey around Europe. It was on his way home when Heath was was caught and became classified as a terrorist. From this project Heath created a a web page of how to travel without any papers and made a mind map of how to be classified as a terrorist.
Looking into Bunting's work I have found that I'm more interested in the process or journey that he goes on for his practice rather then the physical work he shows and although i do find these interesting its not something I would look at doing myself.
